West Campus
To lead in the 21st century, Yale must remain in the vanguard of scientific discovery that shapes the world. An explosion of new knowledge in the life sciences and medicine holds particular promise for the future, and the University is committed to expanding its capabilities in all these areas.
In June 2007, Yale took a giant step forward with the purchase of its new West Campus, the former headquarters of Bayer Pharmaceuticals. Acquiring in one stroke a decade’s worth of superb new facilities, Yale has positioned itself for unprecedented growth in the biomedical sciences.
Plans are under way to establish a cluster of interrelated research institutes at West Campus, making full use of its more than 500,000 square feet of prime laboratory and research space. Alumni, parents, and friends are invited to support these institutes with funding to recruit leading scientists, sustain the latest equipment, and drive innovation tomorrow.
The West Campus also offers opportunities for the arts and humanities at Yale, including storage for art and library collections, exhibition space for the arts and natural history, and a range of other programs. We invite alumni and friends to partner with Yale in support of these initiatives.
