Dining Hall

$ 2,500,000   1 opportunity   1 funded

On the main floor across from the common room, Davenport’s dining hall is two stories high with wood-paneled walls. Its unique elegance is highlighted by two great fireplaces and, hanging in the middle of the room, an original Waterford chandelier (ca. 1790). The dining hall is a place for students, the dean, and master to share meals and hold formal gatherings. Originally constructed in the era of waiters, and then reconfigured many years later for self-service dining, the dining hall underwent major modifications during the renovation. The modifications moved all kitchen operations into the basement, capturing space for a separate servery. These changed restored the hall to its original plan, and now residents can choose from a wide selection of healthy eating options in the servery before returning to their tables to eat.
