Within each residential college, student suites are organized around the entryway– a secure block of suites that opens from the central courtyard into a hub of adjacent spaces. Incorporating a staircase, each entryway may include three to six suites and a shared lavatory on each floor. At Yale’s largest residential college, Silliman’s entryways serve an important function, defining each student’s local “neighborhood” and offering a sense of security and community.
