  Multiple opportunities

In 2005, after seven decades of service, Davenport College underwent a comprehensive renovation and reopened its doors to yet another group of students eager to call it home. The project preserved many of the original architectural details, while altering the interior spaces to better suit students’ academic, social, and lifestyle needs. The master’s and dean’s offices were relocated to the Cross Piece, the geographical center of the College, a guest suite and dean’s apartment were created at 254 York Street, and student housing was updated and expanded. The College now features a new library annex, a seventy-two seat auditorium, and expanded dining hall seating, as well as an array of activity spaces in the refurbished and reconfigured basement.

Although the renovation is complete, there are numerous recognition opportunities available to alumni, parents, and friends who wish to support the revitalized Davenport College. A generous challenge is continuing to support the renovation. Four alumni – Steven J. Kumble ’54, Ruth and Stephen Hendel ’73, Douglas M. Karp ’76, and James S. Chanos ’80 – have committed a total of $8 million to match gifts of $25,000 to $1,000,000.
