Music Professorship

$ 3,000,000   Multiple opportunities

Endowed professorships could be one of the Yale School of Music’s strongest tools for recruiting the best musicians who are in great demand as teachers in music schools throughout the country. Endowed positions for senior faculty teaching piano, strings, organ, woodwinds and brass, voice and composition, as well as endowed chairs in music theory and history would significantly strengthen the School in its core areas. Currently, only about 5% of the School’s faculty members benefit from endowed professorships. If the School of Music is to effectively compete with the other top music schools to recruit and retain the best musicians, we need to significantly increase the number of endowed professorships.
