Fundamental to discerning how molecules work within the body in health and disease is an understanding of their three-dimensional structure. Only recently have technologies been perfected that permit this to be addressed. Yale has traditionally been regarded a leader in this area and continues to perform research defining protein and RNA structure that is relevant to diseases such as Alzheimer’s, Creutzfeld-Jakob (Mad Cow), diabetes, cancer, and bacterial illness.
