$ 100,000   400 opportunities

The sequencing of the human genome, complemented by the development of a multitude of new technologies, has set the stage for major progress in understanding genetic disease. Yale is uniquely positioned to take advantage of these advances with a leading genetics program that in recent years has defined the genetic mechanisms responsible for hypertension, age related macular degeneration, Tourette’s syndrome, and dyslexia, as well as having recently developed a simple method to inactivate all genes in the mouse genome. Yale will continue this research on monogenic diseases with an extended focus on diseases caused by multiple genes in conjunction with environmental factors.
