Athletics Heritage Hall in Payne Whitney Renovation

Built in 1932, historic Payne Whitney Gymnasium hosts hundreds of athletic, recreational, University-related, and New Haven community events every year. Thanks to an upcoming renovation, the Athletics Heritage Hall will soon become the centerpiece of the gym’ cathedral-like lobby. Visitors to the hall—alumni, friends, students, neighbors, and fans alike—will experience an interactive journey through the over 150 years of Yale Athletics. The Hall will include a historical athletic time line, as well as interactive kiosks with touch screens that will instantly bring a viewer back to a team, coach, or special event in Yale’s athletic history. A visit to campus will not be complete without a stop at the Heritage Hall. Areas throughout Heritage Hall provide multiple opportunities for lasting recognition for those whose leadership support has had an impact on the creation of this new addition to Payne Whitney Gymnasium.
