Arts Professorship
$ 3,000,000 7 opportunities
An understanding of the arts is integral to a liberal arts education. The Committee on Yale College Education and the Arts Council recommend that “it should be a University priority to offer both the training in artistic creation that majors require and some further instruction at the elementary level open to students in general.” Presently, there are not sufficient numbers of faculty teaching in the arts to meet undergraduate needs, especially for courses with some focus on practice. These endowments will support joint appointments in the practice of the arts between the professional schools and the Faculty of Arts and Sciences.
