Freshman Counselors Endowment
$ 10,000,000 1 opportunity
Freshman counselors have formed an important part of the fabric of the residential college system since 1938. Mature, responsible, and in good academic standing, freshman counselors are senior students who help incoming freshmen adjust to the academic, social, and cultural life of Yale College. Counselors are engaged in all aspects of the freshman experience, and they are an ever-present resource for personal, social, and academic advice. Prepared to handle a multitude of issues, counselors are fully trained to meet the diverse needs of young undergraduates. In addition to providing social support, they are also expected to be familiar with freshman course requirements, as well as campus resources and how to connect students to them. New endowment funding will support freshman counselors in the new residential colleges, securing training and ongoing programmatic support for these important community leaders.
