Peking University-Yale University Joint Undergraduate Program Fund

$ 1,000,000   1 opportunity

The Peking University-Yale Joint Undergraduate program began in fall 2006 at Peking University (PKU) with twenty-one Yale undergraduates from multiple majors and twenty-one PKU Yuanpei Honors program students. Yale and PKU faculty teach a varied curriculum entirely in English, except for required Chinese language courses. All courses receive Yale College credit, and financial aid can be applied. Yale and PKU participants live together in a new residence hall.

A gift to endow the program can support course development, faculty and staff expenses, student travel (both curricular and extracurricular), and a lecture series bringing Yale faculty to the Beijing campus. The fund will also help strengthen the institutional relationship between Yale and PKU through such joint efforts as pedagogy workshops in language instruction, and general education. Should this program end, the endowment would be used for similar purposes.
