Science and Quantitative Reasoning Program

Science and quantitative reasoning (QR) are integral parts of a liberal education and essential to an informed citizen. This gift will endow a named program to cover current and expanded science and QR education; will support programs of the new Science and Quantitative Reasoning Center; will fund one additional professorship in an area currently not covered by science and QR courses; will support Perspectives on Science, the STARS program and other undergraduate science programs; and will underwrite undergraduate research fellowships. Through this program, Yale College will develop appropriate science and QR curricula for students at very different levels of preparation, assure excellent undergraduate teaching from scientists who run large laboratories with time-intensive research agendas, and foster a spirit of community that nurtures and excites students.
