Effective environmental leadership, whether in the classroom, the laboratory, or the field, depends on increasingly sophisticated technology—and the aptitude of environmental professionals to utilize that technology to maximum advantage. GIS, GPS, remote-sensing technology, and other breakthroughs enable superior research and data-rich decision-making. To this end, F&ES is making a major investment in technology for areas as divergent as conservation, biodiversity, climate change, public health, population, industrial ecology, and large-scale project management.

Donor support can help the School expand and upgrade its technical resources. New endowment will provide a steady source of funds for purchases, leases, and materials, as well as support for technical staff.
