The director of The Macmillan Center Director actively encourages and supports junior faculty, and to this end, the center recently established a book prize and a matching grant program for faculty who receive external funding. Gifts to endow a flexible resource fund will help the director meet such needs and answer requests from faculty and students for research, conference, publications, and travel funds. New endowment can also be used to take advantage of unexpected opportunities, such as the availability of important participants in global affairs who often present their views to the Yale community.
