Many of Yale’s materials show signs of decay because of their age and use and because for over a century, books and periodicals were printed on high-acid, self-destructing paper. Current funds cannot begin to support the amount of specialized work necessary to preserve endangered materials, let alone to treat materials that are just beginning to show deterioration. Gifts of $100,000 and above will create named funds for expanded preservation and conservation activities.
