Subject Librarian

$ 2,000,000   Multiple opportunities

The collections of Yale University Library have been built by subject librarians who bring a deep understanding of the subject areas and disciplines in which they collect. Library curators work closely with the faculty to understand the research and teaching initiatives of Yale and turn that knowledge into robust collections that can follow the many paths of inquiry upon which Yale students and faculty travel. They also assist with the teaching and research needs of students and faculty; run instructional programs for undergraduates, graduates, and faculty; inform the wider campus community of the respective collections through appropriate advocacy, publicity, and exhibitions; and provide general reference services to patrons. The library is seeking permanent endowed funding for reference librarian positions in such fields as the arts, the humanities, the social sciences, the sciences, and international collections. A gift of $2,000,000 will establish a permanent endowment to be named according to the donor’s preference for recognition.
