Library Collection Support Fund

$ 100,000   Multiple opportunities

Each time the university broadens its teaching and research portfolio into a new area, the Yale University Library must quickly develop research collections—which can include books, journals, databases, image collections, manuscripts, maps, and archives—to support the new initiative. In addition, a new faculty hire can often require the library to build a concentration of research resources in a sub-discipline that was not well represented in the collection. In anticipation of these ongoing, concentrated collection purchases, the library seeks to build endowments in each of the broad disciplines (humanities, social sciences, sciences, area studies) designated specifically for the start-up investments in library resources necessary for new faculty hires and university initiatives. Gifts of $100,000 and more will create named funds which will add essential agility to the library’s collection development efforts.
