Combined Program in the Biological and Biomedical Sciences Endowment

$ 100,000   200 opportunities

Few programs have had as immediate and sustained an impact on graduate education at Yale as the Combined Program in the Biological and Biomedical Sciences (BBS). Established to provide students with an integrated experience encompassing all Ph.D.-level education in the biological and biomedical sciences, the program is based on the fundamental concept that education in these fields should reflect the interdisciplinary nature of biological science, not the classic separation of scientific disciplines. Today, Yale’s graduate programs in the biomedical sciences are rated among the best in the world.

Start-up funding for the BBS program was provided by Bristol-Myers Squibb; now Yale seeks to endow the program’s infrastructure and provide permanent support for financial aid, student stipends, and educational programs. Recognition opportunities exist for contributions of $100,000 or more. A landmark gift of $20,000,000 can name the BBS program in accordance with the donor’s wishes and University policy.
