Medical Student Scholarship

$ 100,000 - $ 4,000,000   Multiple opportunities

Alumni of Yale School of Medicine recognize that Yale provides a very special medical education. Class sizes are small, and in addition to offering access to world-class faculty and a premier teaching hospital, the Yale system of medical education remains unique among medical schools. Yale’s stimulating, flexible and non-competitive learning environment attracts the best students in the country. To ensure that these elite candidates are never turned away because of need, increased student financial aid is a top priority for the School. Today’s students pay in excess of $240,000 for their medical education, and more than 67% of the Class of 2006 required financial aid, with an estimated average debt of approximately $100,000 upon graduation. This level of debt not only prevents some outstanding candidates from attending medical school, but also discourages some students from pursuing careers in primary care and academic medicine. An endowed scholarship would enable a perpetual stream of gifted students to attend Yale School of Medicine and help Yale to maintain its superior caliber of students and future doctors.
