The scientific research laboratories in B24 will facilitate discoveries in the Institute for Cell Biology, the Institute for Microbial Biology, and the RNAi Gene Knockout Core. The facility contains two floors of biology laboratories and a third floor equipped for advanced chemistry research and is equipped to support the synthesis of drug candidates at all stages of discovery and development. Other features include two hot labs lined with lead walls and ceilings and a nuclear magnetic resonance room. Future advances in biomedical research will depend on the latest technology and equipment, as well as facilities that promote collaboration among scientists with different backgrounds. Research Facility B24 will bring together researchers from different disciplines and allow them to take full advantage of resources in the core West Campus facilities.
