The Mouse Phenotyping Center

$ 25,000,000   1 opportunity

The ability to turn off specific genes is a powerful tool that helps researchers better understand cellular processes. In Research Facility B24, scientists will utilize a revolutionary genetic technique pioneered by Yale Professor Tian Xu to effectively and inexpensively silence the expression of individual genes in mice and determine the resulting effect on mouse development. West Campus researchers are using this innovation to study the complete mouse genome and ultimately to understand the function of each gene. These findings have the potential to help top researchers elucidate the underlying mechanisms of complex diseases like heart disease, psychiatric disorders, and cancer. A gift to name the Mouse Phenotyping Center would provide an endowment to support the research activities and ongoing operations associated with the Center.
