One of the historic strengths of Yale SOM is the quality of its faculty. Endowing a professorship at Yale SOM is the best way to help the School maintain one of the finest and most well rounded faculties at any business school. Currently, only about half of the School’s senior faculty benefits from endowed professorships. This percentage is much higher at other top schools, and if SOM is to compete effectively to recruit and retain the best scholars, the School needs to add a significant number of chairs. Endowed professorships enable the School to offer highly competitive packages, and the income generated by these endowed funds adds significant stability to the School’s annual operating budget.
