Associate Dean for the Arts
$ 2,000,000 1 opportunity
The committees that studied the possible expansion of Yale College quickly recognized that when the College grew, it would be necessary to put in place a fortified administrative infrastructure for Yale College’s thriving student arts programs, organizations, and curriculum. Yale has one of the strongest and most dynamic extracurricular arts programs in the country. A multitude of organizations flourish on campus, with new ones appearing every year. At the same time, Yale College boasts an unmatched offering of courses in artistic disciplines including photography, drawing, painting, music composition, music performance, voice, design, film, acting, and directing. Endowing the position of the new associate dean who will serve as director of undergraduate arts programs is an important way to ensure the University’s ability to attract a nationally recognized figure in arts programs and education. The endowment will help defray the salary, benefits, and other expenses associated with this key position. This permanent named fund also honors the incumbent and affirms the importance of the appointment.
