Global Initiative Fund - Architecture
$ 100,000 50 opportunities
The practice of architecture has become global in its reach, and it remains the responsibility of architects to resolve the tensions that come from the conflict between transcultural forces of modernization and embedded traditions of local practice. The School of Architecture is very much part of the University’s overall emphasis on global outreach. It is increasingly important for the School to develop programs that can give students intensive and extended immersion in the central issues of architecture in different cultures. The School is already deeply involved in programs in China, and it hopes to expand to other countries and regions in the coming years. An endowed fund for global initiatives will provide critical resources to support term-time seminars and teacher-directed travel, as well as independent study and publications.
