Undergraduate Teaching Fund, Architecture
$ 100,000 30 opportunities
Undergraduate studies in architecture and urbanism, staffed primarily by faculty and graduate students of the School, are integral to the School of Architecture’s mission. Each year, approximately 200 Yale College freshmen and sophomores enroll in introductory courses offered by the School, and the Yale College architecture major has a combined total of fifty juniors and seniors. The undergraduate major incorporates the study of architecture within the broader context of a liberal arts education. Students base their studies in one of three areas of concentration: architectural design; theory, criticism, and history of architecture; and architecture and urban studies. Bringing together undergraduates and graduate students to study in the A+A building greatly enriches the experience for all. The creation of a permanently endowed undergraduate teaching fund sends a strong signal of Yale’s commitment to excellence in undergraduate architecture education and helps provide essential funds to support faculty salaries, as well as course-related travel, so critical to the early development of these future leaders in society.
